Running and jogging are great ways to keep fit and meet new friends. There are a number of Running/Jogging Groups across the borough which cater for different levels of fitness, stamina and need. If you have been jogging for a while, there are also more established groups you can join. Running helps you build on your stamina and can lead to competitions.

Give Your Town The Run Around is a running event for all ages where you quite literally get to take over the high street!
The annual event looks to bring the community together and promotes fitness. Those taking part in the race can complete a 1k, 5k or 8k course around the historic Hoddesdon town centre.
The Daily Mile is simple and free – and gets children out of the classroom for 15 minutes every day to run or jog at their own pace with their classmates, making them fitter, healthier and more able to concentrate in the classroom.
Working closely with Herts Sports Partnership, Public Health Hertfordshire and The Daily Mile Foundation, the partnership will be responsible for encouraging as many schools as possible in Hertfordshire, to adopt The Daily Mile and support the implementation of local programmes.
With one in four of our schoolchildren deemed to be overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school, and with growing issues around the mental wellbeing of young people, The Daily Mile can make a marked and lasting difference to the lives of our young people.
