Following the Government’s announcement that gyms and leisure centres can reopen on Saturday 25 July providing additional health and safety measures are met and complied with, the Council is delighted to announce that The Laura Trott Leisure Centre and John Warner Sports Centre will reopen this Saturday to current members.
There is a lot of new information to take in, but please read to the end of this notice and visit the web links provided for further information.
Please be aware that although the Council has done everything it can to reduce the risk of infection, anyone visiting the centres has a duty to others to follow the procedures set out and must commit to not entering if they are experiencing known symptoms of COVID-19, even if they feel well or believe they may have already had the disease. You will be asked to confirm that you are free of COVID-19 symptoms at every visit.
During the first phase of re-opening, the number of people allowed to use the gyms, and halls will be reduced and managed with pre-booking. Initially, the new timetable and spaces in the gym will be available to current members only and all classes and sessions must be pre-booked online.
Please be considerate of other members and pre-book only one gym and one class session per day. To book online you will first need to register using the email address associated with your membership and your membership card number. The swimming pools and studios will not be open at this stage.
You will need your card number to register and to book online here. A step by step guide on how to do this is available via this link.
Class and gym workout arrangements
The gym will have a reduced capacity and will be pre-bookable in one hour sessions. Some equipment may be out of use to allow for safe distancing. There will be no flexible access to the gym at this stage.
Classes will have a reduced timetable initially. These will be circuit based classes led by the gym’s team with a maximum capacity of 20 people and sessions will be held in the main sports hall to allow for safe distancing.
eGym will be available but some equipment has been moved or temporarily taken out of action to create bigger spaces between each exercise.
Table tennis and badminton are only available at The Laura Trott Leisure Centre and service users will need to bring their own rackets.
Great news, you will not be charged for any visits in July or August. Monthly Direct Debit payments will only commence in September.
